Laundry Room Redo

We’ve been in our home for just under one year and we’ve finally decided to get going on some project I’ve been wanting to do! Believe it or not, my faux fireplace project is still on the boards {wood is all cut, has been for months, and is just sitting in our garage waiting for assembly! I’ve just been dragging my feet on the last steps to complete that project}. I decided to focus on our sad laundry room in the meantime. I know it doesn’t seem like the most obvious room to start with, but it is the smallest, so I thought I would be able to tackle it fairly quickly.

It all started with an inspiration image. I found this gorgeous laundry room while perusing Pinterest one day, and just fell in love. This was the push I needed to get into gear and get started.

After finding my inspiration image, I set to work to put together a Laundry Room Design Inspiration Board to get the feel I was looking for in the room. The color scheme will be mint, black, and cream. I’m eventually hoping to remove the wire shelf and install some cream cabinets similar to inspiration image. In addition, I have my sights set on doing a DIY shiplap board wall opposite the machines, also similar to the inspiration image, but both the shiplap wall and the cabinets probably won’t happen until the summer rolls around and I have a bit more time on my hands. Nonetheless, I can’t wait to see how this all comes together!

Last week, hubby and I went to Home Depot… I swear, we’ve been here or Lowes almost every weekend since we’ve moved! Before we moved into our home, I think we went maybe once or twice… the entire time we’ve been together! We purchased the paint that I’ve had taped up to the wall for what seems like forever. We decided upon Behr Venetian Pearl, which is a gorgeous mint hue. Obviously, not like the inspiration image, but I thought, if I’m going to go through the trouble to paint, I want it to be different enough from our current creamy yellow builder-grade interior paint that can be found throughout our house to make it worth my while. I set to work and phase 1 of my Laundry Room redo project is complete! The color is gorgeous, a lot brighter than I had anticipated, but I’m loving it {And bonus! It matches my fave mini Coach purse perfectly! It’s apparent after this happy accident that I definitely have a mild obsession with this color}!

I sadly didn’t get a “before” picture, but nothing has changed except the color, so it’s not too big of a deal in retrospect. So, that’s about it for now! I’ll keep you posted as this room takes shape over the next few months!

Lilly Pulitzer for Target

At a fabulous Four Seasons pool party in New York City last evening, the ever amazing Target just announced their new designer collaboration for spring will be with none other than Lilly Pulitzer! Known for her preppy, vibrant colored shift dresses, Lilly Pulitzer believed that “style isn’t just about what you wear, it’s about how you live.”

The line for Target will consist of 250 pieces of clothing, shoes, beach ware, accessories, beauty, and home decor. Pieces will range in price from $2 to $150, with over 200 items under $30! In addition, this will mark the first time that Target’s designer collaboration will include plus sizes.

The collection will exclusively hit Target stores as well as Target.com in the U.S. and Canada on April 19th and will feature 15 exclusive prints that were created exclusively for Target by the brand’s artists.

Target’s senior vice president for apparel and accessories, Stacia Andersen, said, “This spring, we wanted to offer our guests a collection that embraced color, print and pattern in a bold, fresh way. As we started to think about the perfect partner to collaborate with, Lilly Pulitzer was the clear choice given the brand’s inspiring heritage, authority with print and pattern and resort-chic aesthetic.”

Adventures in 2015

On the eve of the last day off before my wonderful holiday break is over and I go crashing back into reality, I’ve taken a look back over the last 2 weeks. I must say, it feels like it’s been a lot longer {which is a good thing!} but I feel I’ve accomplished a few notable tasks to start the New Year.

The one large project that remains unfinished, however, is my faux fireplace project. We have all the cuts made, now just assembly remains. I have my handy architectural details on hand, but I still need my hubby’s muscles and unfortunately his schedule is less than ideal. I do, however, vow to get this thing completed before February rolls around… here’s to hoping!

Anyway, onto some of the things I’ve been up to. But first, a lovely little Flipagram to welcome 2015 and bid farewell to 2014.

Farewell 2014, Welcome 2015

I have checked off a very huge point on my ‘to do’ list – and that is finally getting curtains for our bedroom! I’ve had the curtain rods up and have been putting this purchase off for a good 6 months now because I had my eye on these beauties from West Elm for what seems like forever, but I just can’t spend almost $400 on curtains. I went to Bed Bath & Beyond a few days ago looking for a more affordable alternative to no avail, and then today on a chance run to Ikea, I found the perfect, and seriously affordable, set of curtains! They weren’t quite as perfect as the West Elm ones I’ve been in love with, but with a total price tag of $48 I just had to go for it! I bought them, quickly put them up, and couldn’t be more pleased! And I already have a DIY project in mind inspired by these lovely Anthropologie curtains that involves pom trim {my absolute favorite} that is sure to bump them to the top of my curtain leaderboard. I am super excited to see how this vision plays out, but in the mean time I love how they go so well with my bedding. They have a subtle texture that matches my Silver Stitch Pleat Duvet and Natalie Quilt perfectly!

Also found the most adorable pillow from Bed Bath & Beyond to put that finishing touch on our bed. I’ve been looking for the perfect throw pillow that was affordable with the right colors {white and a touch of silver} and when I saw this lovely little pillow I was over the moon! And bonus, it was on clearance for $24.99, then with my trusty BB&B 20% off coupon, it came to $20. So happy!

The original intent for my Ikea trip was to purchase throw pillows for my arm chairs that will be in front of my faux fireplace. I purchased two of these lovely little pieces a few months back and have been on the hunt for the perfect pillows… little did I know, I would end up finding them at Ikea too! I have plans to purchase some small {16x16ish} sequin pillows to give it a pop, but I’m super pleased with how lovely they look! I spray painted the legs of the chairs silver to match the legs of my dining table I just can’t wait to get that faux fireplace completed to see the whole vision come together!

Holiday Home Tour

I am not usually one to get in the holiday spirit, but this year I’ve been super excited to decorate! I don’t quite know what it is… maybe it’s actually having a brand new home to decorate… or maybe the holiday bug has just finally bitten me, but I can’t seem to get enough!

We did have a minor setback when our freshly decorated tree toppled over and destroyed quite a few of our many Disney ornaments. I was, and still am, devastated by this disaster… we lost many ornaments we’ve been collecting throughout our 10 years together. But I pulled myself together to finish decorating the house!

I’m so happy with how everything is coming along! I still feel like I have a few finishing touches to complete but so far, so good! Hope you enjoy our holiday home tour!

Pantone Color of the Year 2015 Announced

Pantone just announced the much anticipated color of the year for 2015… and the winner is…. Marsala Red! Pantone describes Marsala as “A naturally robust and earthy red wine” and goes on to say, “Marsala enriches our minds, bodies, and souls, exuding confidence and stability. Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth.”

Marsala is a color that, unlike Radiant Orchid before it, is appealing to both men and women. The rich, deep red color is also flattering to many skin types and serves as the perfect pop of color in everything from makeup and beauty to home decor and fashion.

I think this color is gorgeous and can see it translating into many areas in my life from my fashion to home decor. I can even see this being a positively lovely palette for a wedding or event! The earthy brown tone in this color make it both sophisticated and bold all at once. I wonder where we will see this color popping up in the next year? All of the lovely possibilities, I couldn’t help but put together a Marsala style board!

Bar Cart Love

I had recently been on the search for the perfect bar cart to finish off our dining room space. Who would have know there would be so many options? I was a bit dismayed, however, to find the price of most of these beauties! These lovely carts are all over Pinterest right now and are just so gorgeous, but most of the ones I was looking at would definitely break the bank… so I set out to find the perfect affordable cart. Here are a few of my bar cart inspirations that I’ve fallen in love with along the way…

I loved all of these carts so much, but just couldn’t spend the $300+ that most of them are going for… I even considered DIYing one… Then, I was insanely happy to see that a bar cart I had previously been looking at from Target that was discontinued was back in stock! It was my lucky day! So I ran to my local Target and scooped this lovely little cart right up. I couldn’t be happier and now am dreaming of all of the lovely styling possibilities!

Shades of Rose Gold

I’ve always had a love for all things gold, however, I’m currently obsessing over all the beautiful shades of this lovely rose gold hue. This absolutely gorgeous shade can be found in everything from weddings, to jewelry, to interior design right now and I only wish I had discovered it before my own wedding! Without a doubt, it would have been seen throughout all the of the details of my day. Needless to say, it would make for the most perfectly lovely palette for any event!
